Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital Celebrates Its Second Foundation Day By Undertaking Free Cardiac Surgeries For Underprivileged Children

Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital (SMJH) Thane celebrated its second Foundation Day on 27th September 2021. To commemorate the occasion the hospital announced a slew of healthcare initiatives themed on Cardiac health. The hospital will undertake free cardiac surgeries for underprivileged children with congenital heart disease across Maharashtra. With World Heart Day around the corner, SMJH will also conduct a free Cardiac screening camp in Thane on September 29th, 2021. Besides a weekend Cardiac camp will be set up at slums across Mumbai and Thane with the objective of diagnosing and managing various cardiovascular diseases.

“Heart diseases among children is a serious problem and one of the key causes of infant mortality. It is our aim to detect various kinds of cardiac ailments in young children at an early stage so that timely treatment can be administered. An awareness campaign will be held in various cities across Maharashtra to ensure that free surgery facilities can be availed by the needy. During the initial phase, we will conduct 50 free surgeries for children with complex cardiac problems. We are extremely pleased to conceptualize this noble initiative as we celebrate our second Foundation Day”, said Ajay Ashar, Managing Trustee, Shree Mahavir Jain Hospital.

The hospital had recently conducted a Cardiac Wellness Drive named ‘Dil Aapka, Khayal Humara’ with a firm belief in providing affordable and quality healthcare to everyone. Through the cardiac screening camps organized at various locations in the city, SMJH will bring about preventive measures in the detection and treating various heart-related ailments. The camp would offer free investigation on ECG, Pulse checking, BP monitoring, and Blood Sugar testing.

SMJH recently completed 500 free Cataract surgeries with an aim to give the joy of vision to as many people as possible. The hospital will continue this initiative to serve needy patients. It also successfully completed ear reconstruction surgery for children from Kazakhstan with a genetic congenital defect, born without an outer ear.
