Tracxn unveils HealthTech India Report: HealthTech funding sees a 55% drop in 2022

Market intelligence platform Tracxn has published its HealthTech India Report, offering valuable insights into the Indian HealthTech landscape. The report reveals a 55% YoY decline in HealthTech funding, which amounted to $1.4 billion in 2022. This significant decrease can be attributed to a 75% reduction in late-stage investments, which fell from $2.4 billion in 2021 to $606 million in 2022.

Seed-stage funding experienced a 52% YoY decrease, reaching $75.2 million in 2022. In contrast, early-stage funding saw a 26% YoY growth, totaling $743 million in 2022. Notably, 70.3% of the funds raised in 2022 were recorded during the year’s first half.

Despite the decline in funding from Q4 of 2021, the HealthTech sector is expected to witness increased activity due to higher digital adoption, favorable government policies, and advancements in technologies such as AI, robotics, cloud computing, data analytics, and IoT.

Although 2022 saw a considerable drop in investments, it still ranks as the second-highest funded year in the past decade, following 2021. This is attributed to the growing awareness of health and the subsequent increase in digital health services usage.
