Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) organizes Health Mela extending healthcare benefits

    The district administration and health department will organize Block-level Health Melas for one day in each block of the country. It is to be directed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and to be held from the 18th to the 30th of April, 2022.  These melas will serve as platforms to attract thousands of people to provide quality healthcare services along with essential medicines and diagnostic services.

     The health Mela would be a part of the celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. While “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements, it would also have an impact on Youth Affairs and Sports, Women and Child Development, State Health Authority.

Health education, information on good lifestyle along with healthcare services for early detection and treatment of diseases will be provided in these melas at free of cost. In total, 65 different diagnostic services including ECG and X-Ray, and more than 170 medicines for various diseases will be available at no cost. The other services which will be available in Health Mela are ABHA (Health ID) creation that is Ayushman Bharat Golden Card creation, diabetes screening, oral cancer screening and hypertension screening along with treatment and referral, yoga, Zumba, mediation & wellness counselling, tele-consultation of ayurveda, yoga, Unani, Homeopathy, obstetrics, gynecology and child health care.

   Services for communicable diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, leprosy, eye care including cataract screening, specialist services on cardiology, asthma, dental, ENT, dermatology, RTI/STI/AIDS screening and treatment, HIV/AIDS counselling, lifestyle and diet counselling, testing for food adulteration using Food Safety Magic Box, are also available.
