DSM-Firmenich Reveals CEO Structure Evolution Following Firmenich Merger

The Board of Directors of DSM-Firmenich AG has announced an evolution in the company’s CEO structure upon completing its merger with Firmenich International SA on 8 May 2023. Effective 1 September 2023, the existing Co-CEO structure, with each CEO holding additional CFO and COO responsibilities, will be replaced. Dimitri de Vreeze will assume the role of CEO, while Ralf Schmeitz will be appointed as CFO of DSM-Firmenich.

Geraldine Matchett, who has been pivotal in DSM’s success and strategic transformation, including the merger with Firmenich, will leave the company on 1 September to further her career. Thomas Leysen, Chairman of DSM-Firmenich, thanked Matchett for her exceptional work and wished her success in her future endeavors.

Ralf Schmeitz brings a strong background in Finance & Control, Treasury, Taxation, and M&A to his new role as CFO. Schmeitz began his career at PWC, spent seven years in various leadership roles at Hewlett Packard, and joined DSM in 2006. He played a vital role in the DSM Finance transformation and the company’s significant portfolio changes.

As of 1 September 2023, Schmeitz will join the Executive Committee of DSM-Firmenich. Leysen expressed his confidence in Dimitri de Vreeze’s ability to lead the company and welcomed Ralf Schmeitz to his new role as CFO.
